Thank you for visiting the Beiriger Elementary Website. There are many new things that I am greatly looking forward to during the 2016-17 school year. Beiriger Elementary will have a full-time Data/Instructional Coach who will help ensure our teachers are teaching to their fullest potential and our students are learning to the best of their capabilities. We will also have a part-time Dean of Students who will fully implement PBIS and promote a positive school learning environment. We will continue to use STAR, AR and Study Island and will also begin using the READ180 program in 5th and 6th grades. Many exciting changes and additions are happening here at Beiriger!
Our school has approximately 480 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Art, Music, P.E., Library, and Computers are offered to all students, along with having many opportunities to become involved in a variety of activities such as Student Council, Choir, Band, Safety Patrol, Spell Bowl, Math Bowl, Science Bowl, Robotics, and Girls and Boys Fitness. The Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative provides special education services to our students.
Beiriger is one of three elementary schools in Griffith, Indiana, and was named in honor of businessman, Peter J. Beiriger who was a school board member for 29 years from 1907-1936. Beiriger Elementary School was built in 1969 and beautifully remodeled a few years ago.
The Beiriger Parent Teacher Council is very supportive and dynamic. I encourage you to become actively involved in the P.T.C., as they work closely with the staff to help provide the best educational environment and learning opportunities for our students.
In order to keep updated with all school information, please read our monthly newsletter and plan to attend the monthly P.T.C. meetings. Visitors are always welcome at Beiriger Elementary. When visiting, please enter through the front doors and obtain a visitor's pass in the office.
As we prepare to begin a new school year, I look forward to building relationships, observing many wonderful teaching moments, and interacting with all students to support their learning, success, and happiness in our school. Here’s to an fabulous 2016-2017 school year!
