COLLEGE BOUND SENIOR CHECKLIST
___ Pick up college applications in the guidance office or complete them on-line!!
___Make an appointment with your counselor to discuss post high school plans.
___Check with the Guidance office to find out which College Reps will be at GHS and sign up to meet with them.
___Register for the October or November ACT or SAT if you have to take it.
___Stop in the Guidance office and check out the scholarship information.
___Visit College websites.
___Schedule college visits.
___Take the SAT or ACT if you need to. If you are planning to take the test the 2nd time, check the policies of the colleges where you’re planning to apply. Many admissions offices focus only on your best score.
___Looking for information on CAREERS? Check out the Guidance website and click on CAREERS.
___Check deadlines for college applications.
___Ask your counselor and/or your teachers for letters of recommendations if needed.
___Continue to search scholarship and financial aid information. Ask your counselor for assistance if you need them.
___Complete your college applications so you can turn them in-after being proofread by your parents or a teacher - by Thanksgiving! You can now send your transcript to the colleges of your choice through Docufide. Check it out on the Guidance website.
___FOUR YEAR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE IN BY THIS MONTH!
___Check with your counselor or the Guidance website for updated scholarship information and continue to apply for them.
___Register on-line if you still need to take the SAT or ACT. Check the Guidance website for dates.
___Complete the FAFSA online. This form is due at the Federal Processor between Jan 1st and March 10th. It is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
___Invite parents to attend Financial Aid night at GHS.
___Continue scholarship search!!
___Check the date and location this month to attend College Goal Sunday with your parents for help completing financial aid forms for college!
___Narrow your options if you have not done so.
___If planning to attend a community college, apply now.
___Check the Guidance website for financial aid and scholarship information
___Decide by April 30th which college you will attend and notify the admissions office. Contact the other schools and let them know that you are not coming.
May: Finalize all loose ends. Secure scholarships. Send thank you cards to those who have given you scholarships or have written recommendations for you.
